I started running in college and have had a love/hate relationship with it ever since. Growing up I played tennis but after a few years with ankle issues, to say the least, I had to find another excercise activity. In came running. It's one of those excercises where you know you are getting a good work out and if you prepare well mentally.. and on your ipod.. it can be very enjoyable.
In college I worked myself up to 2 mile long runs and have stayed pretty consistant over the years. This year I cheered on my cousin who ran the NYC marathon.
Yay Meg!
Anyways, after watching Meg along with one of the Chilean miners run 26.2 miles, I knew I wanted to commit to a race and beat my 2 mile limit.
I tried signing up for the DC Cherry Blossom 10 Mile Run with some friends but we unfortunately didn't make it past the lottery. However, the Monument Ave 10K Run in Richmond was still open so I signed up!
I hope to update this blog with my progress and training. The race is April 2nd and I'm hoping the weather warms up soon so I don't have to do all my runs on the dreaded treadmill...
